The Internet Reacts To CNN Blackmailing A Reddit User
The Cable News Network blackmailed a redditor after posting a gif on Reddit, and the Internet declared a war on them.
The Internet.- The Internet has a new controversy, a big one this time. A user of the subreddit r/The_Donald (a subreddit dedicated to Donald Trump) posted a gif of Donald Trump beating up CNN in the WWE. The meme was intended to make fun of CNN, because people are doubting of the reliability of their news nowadays. The gif got a ton of upvotes (points on Reddit), and became viral.
The gif became so viral, that it was tweeted out by the President himself:

Donald Trump also retweeted the tweet using the POTUS account:
This pissed off CNN to the point the tracked the guy down, identified him and called him.
No one knows what was said or not said in that call, but one day later, the guy apologized publicly on Reddit, expressed guilt for his actions and promised to never do it again.
Later on, the guy account’s was deleted, along with the post.
This may make you think that he was threatened, and it’s confirmed by CNN themselves, when they posted an article detailing how they tracked him down.
The most relevant parts are:
After posting his apology, “HanAssholeSolo” called CNN’s KFile and confirmed his identity. In the interview, “HanAssholeSolo” sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family.
CNN is not publishing “HanAssholeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.
CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.
The most shocking part was “CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.”.
What they’re threatening him with, is called doxing.
According to Julian Assange, CNN committed a crime:

This pissed off not only Trump followers, but people in general, and they made the hashtag #CNNBlackmail which was trending this Wednesday morning:
Hours later, 4chan and Reddit declared a war on CNN, followed by this 4chan statement:
Here are some examples:
Last but not least, some users claim that the guy is 15 years old, but these claims haven’t been confirmed yet.
