17-Year Old Teenager Suspended From School After Painting “Anime Is Trash” On Wall
17-year old John Smith has been suspended from a New Jersey high school after painting the message “Anime is trash” on one of the walls, local authorities report. The teenager was caught red-handed when he was almost done and suspended for 30 days.
“I am so done with these otakus. They say things like ‘omae wa mou shindeiru’ and do weird things with their hands. I just wanted to spread the message, from the bottom of my heart, that this thing [anime] is harming our society”, said Smith to our reporter Gary Cockburn. He claims that his suspension will be worth it if the message is spread.
The school’s principal said that he doesn’t really know what anime really is, and he thinks that this appears to be discrimination against people with disabilities. “No one should be discriminated based on their skin color, economic status or because they watch anime”, he said.
The parents of Smith will be forced to pay for the damage and the teenager will be able to return to school after 30 days.
